ORIGIN

 

Originally from the Northern Rhone valley, of which it is the native grape, is thought to have been introduced in France by the Probo Emperor, originally from Smirnium in Croatia. Used exclusively for wine making, it is in strong expansion in the regions with a warm climate, due to its intense aroma that makes it ideal for cutting with grapes with a neutral taste.

Medium - small, orbicular, trilobed, open U-shaped peziolar sinus, open U-shaped upper lateral sinuses, shallow lower sinuses. Straight or convex teeth.

 

CLUSTER

Medium - small, trunk - conical, winged, compact.

GRAPE

Small, spheroidal, thick skin, amber colour.

COMMENT ON THE CLONE

French clone very vigorous, medium and regular production. Good fertility. Suitable for calcareous or deep soils but not too fertile. Recommended training systems: spurred cordon or GUYOT with long prunings. Biotype sensitive to botrytis and wind, prefers warm environments where it expresses its aromatic qualities, to obtain quality productions it is necessary to adopt a high density of plant.
