Originally from the Eastern Mediterranean basin, the grape variety first spread to Italy and then to France under the name Ugni Blanc. In our country it is cultivated mainly in the Centre and in the South, including the Islands; in the North it is cultivated only to some warm and sunny wine growing areas. Used exclusively for wine making, it provides a straw yellow wine, quite alcoholic with a neutral taste. Vinification with other vines is recommended.

COMMENT ON THE CLONE
Italian clone very vigorous, high and constant production. Notable fertility. Suitable for medium fertility soils. Recommended training systems: spurred cordon with long prunings. Biotype tolerant to the spring frosts because its late sprouting, sensitive to the oidium, suitable for warm climates, prefers environments with limited summer drought and little windy due to the fragility of its shoots, sometimes very robust.
