ORIGIN

 

Originally from France, the grape variety is widespread in Bordeaux and particularly in the Souterne region. It is currently grown in certain regions of Central-South Italy, France, South Africa, Chile, Australia and New Zealand. Used exclusively for wine making.

LEAF

Medium - large, kidney shaped, trilobed, U-shaped peziolar sinus, slightly pointed upper lateral sinuses, deep lower sinuses. Convex teeth.

CLUSTER

Medium, conical, winged, compact.

GRAPE

Medium, spheroidal, pruinose and thick skin, green - yellow colour.

COMMENT ON THE CLONE

French clone of good vigor, good and constant production. Poor fertility. Suitable for well drained soils. Recommended training systems: GUYOT, SYLVOZ with short prunings. Biotype sensitive to rot, to the virus of leaf curl, prefers temperate climates - fresh.
