ORIGIN

 

Originally from the Central Europe, the grape variety is currently widespread along the eastern Danube; in Italy it finds the epicentre of cultivation in the Oltrepò Pavese; it is also present in some hilly areas of Veneto, Trentino Alto Adige and Friuli Venezia Giulia. Used exclusively for wine making, both in purity and especially as an improvement grape in the blends of local white grapes. The straw yellow wine is also suitable for the production of sparkling wines.

LEAF

Medium, orbicular, trilobed, V-U peziolar sinus, V-shaped lateral sinuses. Regular teeth.

 

CLUSTER

Small, cylindrical, winged, compact.

GRAPE

Medium, spheroidal, pruinose skin thin and consistent, golden yellow colour.

COMMENT ON THE CLONE

Italian clone of medium vigor, medium and constant production. Good fertility. Suitable for hilly or stony plains, fresh. Recommended training systems: very tight with medium - short prunings. Biotype sensitive to oidium but poorly sensitive to botrytis, good adaptability to spring frost and drought.
