Grape variety of very ancient origin, it is a chimeric mutation of Pinot Noir or Pinot Grigio, from which it can be clearly distinguished only after the seasoning. Thanks to its precocity it has spread in Germany, France and Italy where it has found restricted areas of cultivation in Trentino Alto Adige, Lombardy and in general in the Tre Venezie. Used exclusively for wine making, it is suitable for sparkling and preparation of still white wines.

COMMENT ON THE CLONE
Constituted by the Geisenheim Institute, vigorous German clone, abundant production. High fertility. Suitable for hilly soils, not very loose heavy. Recommended training systems: medium expansion with short prunings. Biotype sensitive to iron chlorosis in soils too calcareous. Irrigation during periods of drought guarantees the body, structure and acidity of the product. Low resistance to winter cold, medium resistance to spring frost. With a high acidity, it is recommended as a sparkling wine.
