Originally from the South-West region of France, precisely in the Bordeaux area, the grape variety from France spread to all parts of the world, brought to Italy in 1880, first spread in the Tre Venezie and then also in the most southern environments of Italy. Used exclusively for wine making, for its cultural and technological characteristics and for its alcoholic and aromatic potential, it is a basic blend for some of the most prestigious wines in the world. It produces excellent wines, both young and aged in barriques.

COMMENT ON THE CLONE
Constituted by the Geisenheim Institute in collaboration with VIVAI TRUANT of Truant Tarcisio s.agr.s., vigorous German clone, good production. High fertility. Suitable for hilly, fresh that preserve sufficient humidity. Recommended training systems: SYLVOZ, GUYOT, CAPPUCCINA with long prunings. Fairly recent biotype with good production characteristics, sensitive to drought and spring frost causes early sprouting. In unfavourable vintages and in cold zones it presents the phenomenon of infertility and millerandage.
