ORIGIN

 

Originally from California, the grape variety was obtained by crossing Regina dei Vigneti x Alphonse Lavallée. It is currently grown all over the world as it is one of the most popular table varieties. Used exclusively for the table grape market.

 

LEAF

 

Large, elongated, pentagonal, pentalobate, open V-U peziolar sinus, deep upper lateral sinuses, little pronounced lower lateral sinuses. Irregular and acute teeth.

 

CLUSTER

 

Big, long, winged, loose.

 

GRAPE

 

Big, irregular, spheroidal, pruinose skin of medium consistency, purple red colour.

COMMENT ON THE CLONE

 

Standard clone of good vigor, abundant and constant production. Fertility nothing. Suitable for different types of soils. Recommended training systems: arbor, spurred cordon with short prunings. Biotype sensitive to downy mildew and to the escoriosis. Good resistance to transport and for conservation. One of the earliest black table varieties.
