Originally from the South-West region of France, the grape variety is widespread all over the world; initially introduced in the Tre Venezie, it has found cultivation everywhere in Italy and especially in the temperate - warm areas. Used exclusively for wine making, often assembled with other Bordeaux varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Franc, which gives elegance and aroma.

COMMENT ON THE CLONE
Constituted by the Geisenheim Institute, vigorous German clone, abundant and constant production. High fertility. Suitable for flat, clayey and calcareous soils, it gives the best of itself in the hilly marls. Recommended training systems: large with short prunings. Biotype with fairly rustic characteristics, excellent setting, poor tolerance to drought.
