ORIGIN

 

Originally from Emilia, where the grape variety is still widespread and limited in other Emilian provinces. It is currently cultivated also in Veneto, Tuscany, Friuli Venezia Giulia and in Trentino. Used for the production of "rossissimi", suitable for cutting with other vines to give colour and alcohol to the wine.

 

LEAF

 

Medium, pentalobate, open U-shaped peziolar sinus, deep upper and lower lateral sinuses. Acute teeth.

 

CLUSTER

 

Medium - big, pyramidal, winged, loose.

 

GRAPE

 

Small, spheroidal, pruinose skin of medium consistency, dark blue colour.

COMMENT ON THE CLONE

 

Italian clone of medium vigor, medium and constant production. Medium - low fertility. Suitable for medium mixture soils tending to clay. Recommended training systems: SYLVOZ, CASARSA, GDC with short or mixed prunings. Biotype sensitive in certain vintages to infertility and spring frost.
